Destruction in Chch and Rebuild

Last week I biked around, taking some pictures of earthquake-damaged buildings or buildings being torn down.  Many buildings in Chch (Christchuch) look fine, but are not considered safe post-earthquake, so will be torn down eventually.
One of the cranes is named "Twinkle Toes".
Post-earthquake there was a phenomenon called liquefaction- when the soil and sand settle and compress during an earthquake, the water below rises to the surface (sounds like a thick dark ooze/muck); I think that is all done with now.

Visited the Re:Start Mall on Cashel Street- it is really a happening place, and uplifting in that it is a symbol of rebuilding Christchurch.  If you can see in the 2 pictures below, this mall popped up made entirely of container boxes (in an area in the center of town that had to be cleared post-earthquake).
Apparently this mall will be in place for maybe the next year, then the area will likely be re-developed- the mall at that time will just be moved!
